Teef

Corinne called me today and told me that the baby has cut two bottom teeth! Oh my gosh, my kid is growing up so fast. I have to say, it is very hard to leave my family every day. I love them so much, and it’s hard to be away from them all the time.

My Gosh

Yes…I’ve pretty much determined…the world is evil. As the teacher of my Geology class is blabbering on, I just decided to read the news. What I found there today, was extremely disturbing; another woman in Texas killed her children. It seems God told this lady to kill her children. She did so by smashing their skulls in with rocks. Her two older boys are now dead, and her 14 month old boy has suffered irreparable damage to his vision and likely his brain.

Being that I am now the father of a beautiful baby, I have a new perspective on this issue. Those of you who read regularly, know how I feel about my child getting hurt. The thing that really kills me about this, is that after raising these children for years, this lady decides that they would all be better of dead, with little effort on her part. Additionally, she actually LIED to her husband as she was bashing the baby. My religion teaches me to be tolerant of all things and of all people; however, the one thing that I am not tolerant to is violence against children. As far as I’m concerned, anyone who hurts a child should be subject to the death penalty; crazy or not.

The really good thing about this is the fact that during the last episode in Texas, the judge there denied the mother the ability to plead insanity. While I think that anyone who hurts children must be certifiable, I still think that she needs to be put to death. As a matter of fact, they should put her to death in the same way that she put her poor innocent children to death; by stoning her. Luckily, her trial will be short. She called 9-1-1 and told them that she had just killed her children. If that doesn’t demonstrate sanity and guilt, I don’t know what is. I don’t feel that I need to be paying for her to be locked up in a crazy-bin for the rest of her life when she could easily be put out of commission.

Perhaps this may sound a little harsh; maybe it is. I’m reacting pretty harshly to this. I should say thought that, in my opinion, NO child deserves to be hurt, let alone killed. This woman should pay for her crimes with the highest penance possible; her life

Back To Church

I haven’t been to church in well over a month. It’s been busy. Yah, yah…excuses, excuses, right? Anyway, Jimmy (Corinne’s oldest brother) blessed his fifth child today and then later, Corinne sang at a fireside at which the first and second counselors of the Relief Society Presidency were speaking. I gave a lesson at Family Home Evening, which went well. As you can see, it was spiritual day.

I also took another Psychology test today on which I’m sure I fared well. So….I’m off to bed again. I’m getting more tired at night lately. Dunno if that’s a good or a bad thing yet.

One Week In

It’s been one week since we’ve moved in with the in-laws. All in all, I have to say that it hasn’t been that bad. It’s taken some getting used to yes, but things could always be worse. School is back in swing after spring break and I still find myself completely unmotivated to do anything with it. Oh well, as they say, the end is neigh.

The more I use my laptop, the more I like it. It really is a great machine; as a matter of fact, I redesigned this page completely on it. I’ve been hanging out in the #ans channel on the freenode.net IRC server. Over the last week, a new guy has been trying to get his Apple Network Server running Yellow Dog Linux. It’s been kinda fun helping him (even though, compared to the rest of the group, I’m pretty inexperienced with this machine) and we finally got his machine up and running on Thursday night. The guy I was helping is a photographer in Austin, TX. who is going to use three of these machines to archive his photographs. Even though these machines are old, they are remarkable cool and it’s fun to be part of an online community of people. Some of the guys I chat with are from Western Europe (Netherlands, Amsterdam). We’re collectively working on a new page that dedicates itself to the old ANS machines. You can see the page at shiner.info. I did the Forum on the page and will be administrating it. It’s really cool to be part of a community of people with whom you will likely never meet.

Nine One One

Tonight, Milaena was crawling on the floor. I asked Corinne if the floor had been cleaned and if I had to worry about her getting hold of anything small. Corinne said that she and her mother had already cleaned the floors and there were no small pieces. Wrong!

Just a few minutes after we talked about this, I heard the baby gagging. Corinne quickly picked her up and swooped her mouth; nothing. I took her from Corinne and gave her a little pat on the back while I was holding her length-wise in my hand, on her stomach. After few seconds she quit gagging, but when I returned her to an upright position, she started again. I told Corinne to call 911.

Wouldn’t you know it, by the time the ambulance got there, the baby was happy as could be. She greeted the paramedics with a smile and a giggle. Thankfully, everything turned out all right. I realize that maybe we overreacted with this situation, but one never can be too careful I guess; especially when it comes to the lives of your children.
