Got up early today; early as in before dawn. I haven’t woke up at 4:30 am in a LONG time. I was out the door by 5:10 and drove down to Salt Lake to pick up John. We were on the road by 6:30, arrived here in St. George by 10:30. I feel bad for John, he was so tired (he got home from work just an half an hour before I rang on my way out the door) and he couldn’t sleep in the car.
We ate yesterday at about 1:30, we had a great dinner. Everyone was here and we got to see our new nephew (Corinne’s brother Jared’s baby). His name is Nash, he’s adorable. The family stayed up and played games last night, I chose not to participate; I’ve never been much of a game person, but perhaps I should participate more.
This morning, I talked to my Friend Chris, he and his wife Marta were up from Vegas visiting his family for the Holiday, we agreed that we would hook up today. Apparently, Corinne’s family had made plans to go to Zion National park that I was not aware of. I ,already having plans, opted not to go. That’s me though, I like to have things planned, I have a hard time last minute changes, and I’m often accused of lacking spontaneity. :) Truth is, I have only been down here for a day, Corinne has been here since Monday. I don’t have time to get all of my visiting in. I understand that Corinne wants to see her family and that’s okay.
Got the pictures finally added today. Hopefully you enjoy them. Getting ready for the weekend. Had to stay at work tonight late and configure a server. My boss said that in exchange for my time, I wouldn’t have to take a personal day for taking Friday off. That’s certainly nice.
Tomorrow, I’m going to get all of our “available” servers together and start getting gentoo installed on them. That way, we can have servers ready for customers whenever they ask for them. I”m making it my goal to get the systems at office organized and installed properly. Frankly, I’m sick of the disorganization. Things get so hectic and we have a hard time getting stuff done when I’m trying to figure out what is where and what goes where. There are so many things that need to be done, but I’m all over it.
I have a test to take tomorrow before I start packing for St. George. I’m going to leave Thursday morning at 6:00 and pick up John. Hopefully we’ll be in St. George by 11:00, the family is eating at 1:00. John has to work until 3:00 that morning, so I’m sure he’ll sleep most of the way down; I don’t mind.
Corinne left for St. George today. She wanted to go down early and spend some time with her family before the holiday. Hey, she’s got nothing to do here except for taking care of me, and I can do that myself. OK…she really does a lot here, but I think you get my point. She and Janelle traveled with the kids today, thankfully they arrived safely.
I’ve only got three more weeks of school left and frankly, it won’t be over a day to soon. I hit my three week wall today. Corinne says that three weeks before the end of every semester I get mega-stressed; apparently this semester is no exception. Things between us have been good lately, I’m glad that I married such a great woman.
We spent the weekend and my parents place. We went down for a family get-together that we had yesterday. Many of the cousins came and it was good to see everyone. I have to say though, it’s not quite the same as it used to be before everyone was married. I have such fond memories of my family growing up, it’s just hard to see it all be so different.
Things at work have been a little hectic. I won’t go in to details here, but I’ll tell you that it’s not been pretty. Frankly, I feel a bit “in the middle” of a really bad situation between a co-worker an my boss; it’s not a good place to be. I’ve been working on getting a new firewall in place for our Windoze servers. Since they are notoriously insecure, we figure that we should lock them down pretty good. We found one of them today that had been compromised and I’m not happy about it. I’ve been doing most of the server builds lately and I really enjoy it. Frankly, I feel lucky to get paid for doing my hobby for a living. I think I get more satisfaction out of this job than I have any other.
I’ve almost got the pictures section ready for the website. Hopefully that will be nice for everyone.
I realized tonight that I have been blogging for over 2 years!! Seems like just not too long ago that I had this crazy idea to start a blog. The site has gone through two major revisions and is getting ready for another update. I’m going to add pictures of the family back up here again. I just need the time to do it. I’ll get around to it soon enough though.
