So, today marks the end of my first week of commuting. I rode to work two out of four days this week and then on various errands. All in all, that puts me at a total mileage of 65.9 miles for the week and 65.9 total. So, here’s a little about the rides:
Since so many have spent so much time bashing my favorite political opponent, I figured I’d do my part in firing back. For those of you who are thinking of voting for the presumptive Republican Nominee, please see the following:
…and for those of you who still wish to bash on Obama’s pastor, please consider this: The McCain campaign began seeking Reverend John Hagee’s support over a year ago. This is a man who is quoted with saying the following:
And they the hunters should hunt them,’ that will be the Jews. ‘From every mountain and from every hill and from out of the holes of the rocks.’ If that doesn’t describe what Hitler did in the holocaust, you can’t see that.
“Theodore Hertzel is the father of Zionism. He was a Jew who at the turn of the 19th century said, this land is our land, God wants us to live there. So he went to the Jews of Europe and said ‘I want you to come and join me in the land of Israel.’ So few went that Hertzel went into depression. Those who came founded Israel; those who did not went through the hell of the holocaust.
“Then god sent a hunter. A hunter is someone with a gun and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter. And the Bible says — Jeremiah writing — ‘They shall hunt them from every mountain and from every hill and from the holes of the rocks,’ meaning there’s no place to hide. And that might be offensive to some people but don’t let your heart be offended. I didn’t write it, Jeremiah wrote it. It was the truth and it is the truth. How did it happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said my top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel.
Yeah, Hagee wasn’t McCain’s pastor, but they SOUGHT his support.

So, thanks to the generous donations for my graduation, I was able to pick up my commuter bike. Here it is folks, my 2008 Redline 925. Okay, so for right now, it’s bone stock, but that’s okay. Incidentally, my cousin Ryan picked his up a few weeks ago. Both he and I had gone back and forth over the options: gears or no gears; steel or aluminum; flat bar or alternative bar; the list goes on. Ultimately, we both decided to KISS; Keep It Simple Stupid (what, do you think we’re from Hilldale?).
Some of you may not know this, but I used to play drums. I last played seriously when I was 19, but have never fallen out of love with drumming. Now that school is over, I’m very much wanting to pick it up again.
Every now and again I find some drumming jewel on the Intarnetweb. I guess I’d never thought of posting them until now. So, with that in mind, check out Johny Carson’s Tonight Show Band drummer Ed Shaughnessy vs. the very famous Buddy Rich:
