I won’t write much, but let me say this: I wasn’t in great condition to ride today. Regardless of how great I felt last night, this morning was a different story. Ryan and I met to ride the Maple Hallow trail on Draper’s South Mountain. It wasn’t a long ride, but it was such a long ride (ya dig?). My legs were shot, the trail was soggy and muddy, and the wind was unbelievable. Never in my life have I heard my jacket flap like it did about two-thirds the way up the trail and never in my life have a actually leaned my bike sideways just to keep going in a straight line. It was crazy. After some brief complaining on my part, we eventually made it to the end of the trail, which we were hoping had been finished since we rode it last season, but very little work had been done.
We turned and pointed the bikes downhill, which coupled with a muddy trail and high winds, made for an extremely fun and challenging ride to the car. When we finally arrived at the car, we chatted for a minute and parted ways. Immediately, be began thinking about my ride tomorrow. Since I’m away from home for the tonight and most of the day tomorrow, I figured I’ll take a brief night ride with my new light (thanks Ry!) to get the ride in for the day. Nine days in and though I know I could use a little good recovery time, I feel great.
