Twenty Oh Nine

As of about 2000 last night, I had NO idea what we were going to do. I had thought about taking the kids downtown on the train, but wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to hoof it alone. Before I had time to decide for myself, Greg called. He had come up with his girls and offered to come pick us up for a trip to First Night. We loaded into the car, and headed down to Salt Lake Coffee Break for hot chocolates and chai lattes. The kids had a great time running around with Greg’s daughters.

Afterwards, we headed over to first night. I had to go get cash and found that Chase Bank charges $3.00 to withdraw cash (ripoff!). We headed into the crowded space and begin looking around for things to do. There wasn’t a whole lot for kids to do (that happened earlier in the day). Finally though, we settled in around the ice rink (which was being policed by one poor security guard) and the kids hopped the guard to slide around on the cold slab. Greg and I shot the bull and listened to Afro Omega with Wisdom rock some solid reggae. Before we knew it, we were hearing “3, 2, 1…Happy New Year!!!” and there we were. Fireworks ablaze, the children stood in awe of a solid display of pyrotechnic design. Soon after, we packed up and headed back to the car and took the slow road home.

The kids, of course, crashed on the way home. Well, Mason was out, Milaena faded to and fro. I had thought earlier to put their pajamas on under their clothes (both to add a layer of warmth and lessen my workload upon arriving home) so getting them in bed was easy. At about 0130, we all crashed out.

I’m taking the kids back to Corinne this morning. Having been with them for over a week, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t already a bit bummed out.

Check out the web album from last night.

Updated Biking Section

Not that many people care, but I updated the biking section of the page with some new pics of the rebuilt ride. I’m going to get some new pics of the commuter up soon, but for now the originals will have to do.

TwoBigWheels.com

So, as part of his Christmas present, I set up a new blog for my cousin and seriously best friend Ryan. He’s been wanting to start a blog and I figured I’d register the domain and get it all up for him.

I set up the domain, got Wordpress installed and began looking for themes. I found a few that I liked, but nothing that really stuck out; Until I found a theme called Floristica. Black, gray, yellow (LiveStrong yellow). Perfect. I made some CSS mods, created a custom header image (complete with rounded corners to match the theme), imported his old blog posts and images, and applied my new LiveStrong Wordpress plugin. Viola! 8 hours well spent.

I’m going to have to do some training with him to ensure that his pics don’t start eating gobs of space on my hosting account, but other than that, he’s ready to go. So, check it out at http://twobigwheels.com

Three Weeks Without Riding Es No Bueno

Got out and put in 12 miles today. The right side of my chest is still tender from my last wreck and I couldn’t quite get a full chest of air. Clearly, this made putting the hammer down pretty interesting. Regardless, I’m ready to get back to it. The shoulder held up well today, though the chest may take a bit longer to heal. Gotta start training though, Ryan and I are planning on racing cyclocross next season and we’ll need all the conditioning we can get.
