I love making pictures with a camera. I’m certainly no pro – or even a good amateur for that matter – but I enjoy it nonetheless. I took a photography class in high school (who didn’t, easy A right?) and I’ve always ended up being the photographer at various family events and, after the pictures of Mason’s first birthday party didn’t turn out, decided I needed to gear up with some better equipment. I often hear people say that it’s the photographer that makes the picture, not the camera and I agree with this, to a point. What I’ve learned is that better equipment makes a huge difference when one is still learning.
Of course, I love making pictures of my activities and surely, of anything my kids are doing. One of the things I also like though is macro photography. I love getting close up with things and capturing the finer details of the world around us. I’m also learning more and more about night photography; I find night photography exciting. In the dark, our eyes see much more black and white than color and I’m fascinated to see what color actually looks like in the dark.
Now that school is over and I’m moving on with life, it’s time I start collecting some lenses. Currently, I only use my kit lens which is a 18-55mm. I’m looking for some upgrades soon. I’d like to stay with Nikkor lenses, but I’m open to other suggestions, so if you have any, drop me a line.
